Charles Wright Academy Welcomes New Communications Director Hillary Ryan
Tacoma, Wash. — In March 2021, Charles Wright Academy (CWA) welcomed Hillary Ryan as Communications Director.
“With her experience in nonprofit communications and her deep connections in the Tacoma-Pierce County community, Hillary brings a wealth of professional and personal knowledge to CWA,” noted Susan Rice, CWA Head of School.
Ms. Ryan has held senior-level marketing and communications leadership positions at Tacoma Art Museum and Museum of Glass where she was responsible for assessing needs, developing collaborative plans, building stronger internal and external communications, and activating new strategies. She has served on the boards of the Washington Museums Association, Olympia Family Theatre, and led Girl Scout troops.
“I thrive on connecting people and building relationships to discover opportunities, create community, and produce successful outcomes. I am impressed by the warm and welcoming staff and faculty at Charles Wright Academy and I am excited about bringing a new perspective to strengthen the amazing work being done to inspire active, joyful learning,” said Ms. Ryan.
In her 20-plus years in communications and marketing she has provided strategy and implementation for a variety of organizations including Greater Tacoma Community Foundation, Metroparks Tacoma, Seattle Children’s Theatre, Travel Tacoma Mount Rainier Tourism & Sports, University Place School District, and Vashon Center for the Arts. She holds a masters degree from the University of Washington and bachelors degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Ms. Ryan recently earned an altMBA and a certificate in nonprofit technology.
