Seasoned athletic coach and teacher at CWA is recognized for her contributions to regional athletics

TACOMA, WA – Charles Wright Coach, Kate Rue, will be inducted into the Tacoma Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame members are recognized for their outstanding sports accomplishments and contributions that bring local and regional acclaim to the Tacoma-Pierce County area.

Kate is a great coach because of her deep care for every one of her student athletes,” said Head of School, Matt Culberson. “They become their best selves because of her belief in them and support of them.”

When she first began at CWA 12 years ago, she coached Middle School girls and boys basketball teams, and has been coaching our Girls Varsity Basketball team for the past 10 years.

“Coach Rue is a tremendous coach, athlete, and role model,” said Athletic Director, Tyler Francis. “Her leadership and care for young athletes, on and off the court, is transformative and she makes a lasting impact on each and every one of her players.”

Kate was a star basketball player at both Mount Tahoma High School and at the University of Washington, and after college pursued a professional basketball career overseas and coached at the collegiate level.
