Catherine Ezzo Appointed Upper School Director
By Alex Domine
Tacoma, Wash. — Charles Wright Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of Catherine Ezzo to Upper School Director beginning in the 2019-20 school year.
“Catherine brings a breadth of experience and vision to the Upper School,” said Greg Bamford, Associate Head of School. “She is highly regarded by her references citing her experience leading change, work ethic, and integrity.”
Ms. Ezzo began her career as an English teacher until she was appointed as Dean of Students at George School, in Newtown, PA where she ensured programs were consistent with the mission and core values of the school. After serving at George School, Ms. Ezzo became the Assistant Director of Upper School where she led matters in academic and student life. Currently, Ms. Ezzo serves as the Head of Religious Studies and Philosophy at William Penn Charter School.
“I love the art of teaching, and I enjoy the opportunity of learning alongside young people as they consider the adults who they will become in the world. Education is so critical to young people because it is in this forum that they may learn about the capacity that they have to change the world,” Ms. Ezzo said. “Many independent schools talk about the importance of the student teacher relationship. Yet at Charles Wright it is clear that these relationships are the foundation of the work of teaching and learning as students and teachers grow together.”
We at CWA are excited to welcome Ms. Ezzo into this role. Ms. Ezzo, along with her husband, Nate, and children James (12) and Alison (8), will relocate in time to join CWA for the start of the next school year.
